CN2 GIA VPS: Hosts Compared by Location

Updated Oct 14, 2026 96 sources
Short answer

We found 19 hosts whose own sites listed CN2 GIA VPS plans on October 14, 2026. Among plans you could order with a port of at least 100 Mbit/s, the lowest prices were ¥449 a year in San Jose and Frankfurt (AkkoCloud), $32 per 3 months (ZgoCloud) and ¥65 a month (DigitalVirt) in Los Angeles, ¥189 a month in Tokyo (nosla.cloud), $20 a month in Hong Kong (HostKVM) and $45 a month in Singapore (GreenCloudVPS). Hong Kong also had a 2 Mbit/s plan at $5 a month (Server.HK). Many cheaper plans were sold out.

  • Los Angeles and San Jose have the most CN2 GIA VPS sellers: 13 of the 19 hosts we found list plans in the US.
  • BandwagonHost's cheapest CN2 GIA plan, $49.99 per 3 months, was in stock in Los Angeles, San Jose, New York and Vancouver; in Amsterdam the same plan runs on CTGNet. Its Osaka and Singapore plans cost $49.99 a month.
  • Many of the cheapest plans were sold out, including DMIT's $10.90 Los Angeles plan, every DMIT Tokyo Pro plan, GreenCloudVPS's $25 Mini and HostDare's $40.99-a-year plan.
  • Hosts differ on direction. HostDare, TMHHost, LisaHost and OneTechCloud describe CN2 GIA only for traffic back to China, CloudSilk only for traffic into the server, and nosla.cloud's premium plans for both.
  • China Mobile and China Unicom users need CMIN2 and 9929 or China Unicom Premium. Several Asian plans name only CMI for China Mobile.
  • No host we checked says its IPv6 traffic uses CN2 GIA, and HostDare says IPv6 on its China plans isn't optimized.

CN2 GIA VPS plans were listed by 19 hosts on their own sites when we checked on October 14, 2026. Their plans are in Los Angeles, San Jose, New York, Vancouver, Tokyo, Osaka, Hong Kong, Singapore, Frankfurt, London and Amsterdam. Our CN2 GIA guide explains what CN2, GT and GIA are; this page compares the plans.

CN2 GIA VPS hosts by location

We checked every price on the host’s own site on October 14, 2026. Prices are full prices in the host’s currency. “Cheapest” means the lowest price per month among plans in stock, at the billing period the host offers. Stock changes often.

Chinese hosts describe direction with two words: 去程 is traffic from China to the server, and 回程 is traffic from the server back to China.

US CN2 GIA VPS: Los Angeles and San Jose

Los Angeles and San Jose have the most CN2 GIA VPS sellers: 13 of the 19 hosts list plans in the US. With a port of at least 100 Mbit/s, the cheapest Los Angeles CN2 GIA VPS you could order was ZgoCloud’s at $32 per 3 months in US dollars, or DigitalVirt’s at ¥65 a month in yuan. The cheapest in San Jose was AkkoCloud’s at ¥449 a year.

  • BandwagonHost sells its E-Commerce plans in CN2 GIA data centers in Los Angeles (DC6 and DC9), San Jose, New York and Vancouver. The same plans can also be placed in data centers without CN2 GIA, so check the data center when you order. On the order form, the Los Angeles, New York and Vancouver CN2 GIA sites have “CN2GIA” or “CN2 GIA” in their names, but San Jose shows only “US - San Jose (USCA_SJC5)”. For DC9 it says: “All China-bound traffic is sent to three carriers: CN2 GIA by China Telecom (AS4809), CMIN2 (China Mobile AS58807) and China Unicom Premium (AS10099).” The cheapest is 20G: 1 GB of RAM and 1 TB a month at 2.5 Gbit/s, for $49.99 per 3 months, $89.99 per 6 months or $169.99 a year. The cheapest E-Commerce plan with monthly billing is 80G at $56.99 a month. Plans with an SLA, in its DC5 data center, start at $65.89 per 3 months. Every plan was in stock, and no sale was running.
  • DMIT calls its CN2 GIA line Premium, and its plan names include “Pro”. In Los Angeles, Premium “combines Tier 1 transit with premium transit partners, including DMIT’s own backbone and China Telecom CN2 GIA”. The cheapest Pro plan you could order was LAX.AN4.Pro.MINI: 4 GB of RAM and 5,000 GB a month, counted in both directions, at 10 Gbit/s, then unmetered at 8 Mbit/s, for $72.90 a month or $829.90 a year. The cheaper Pro plans, from $10.90 a month, were “Out of Stock” in the store. DMIT’s pricing page didn’t match the store: it showed the AS3 Pro plans as “Order Now” and the MINI as “Out of Stock”, and it says its table “may not be updated in time”.
  • HostDare sells CN2 GIA in Los Angeles only. Its plans list “CN2 GIA(AS4809),CU(AS9929),CMIN2 (AS58807) 单程”, and 单程 means one way. HostDare says the connection from the VPS to home connections in China uses those routes, and “the return path from your home ISP to your VPS uses non-GIA uplinks, such as GTT and other ISP.” On October 14, the cheapest plan you could order was CAMD2, in its AMD line: 2 GB of RAM and 1,000 GB a month at 60 Mbit/s, for $49.99 per 3 months or $119.99 a year, with 1 left. CSSD0 ($40.99 a year), CSSD1 ($28.99 per 3 months) and CSSD2 ($45.99 per 3 months) showed “0 Available”. HostDare’s marketing pages show some prices that differ from its store; we used the store’s.
  • nosla.cloud lists San Jose with “电信双程CN2 | 联通双程9929 | 移动双程CMIN2”: CN2, 9929 and CMIN2, each in both directions. Its regular plans, from ¥115 per 3 months (1 GB of RAM, 500 GB a month, 500 Mbit/s shared), were sold out; they use “德国IP用于美国”, a German IP address used in the US. On October 14, 2026, nosla.cloud was running a National Day sale with no end date shown, and in San Jose only the sale plans could be ordered. Those plans come with a US IP address, which nosla.cloud says it will replace within 30 days with a German one that uses CN2, 9929 and CMIN2 both ways; until then, China Mobile traffic to the server uses CMI.
  • CubeCloud lists “USA|洛杉矶 Pro 电信CN2+联通9929+移动CMIN2”. The plan details are different for China Mobile: 回程 over CN2, 9929 and 4837, and 去程 over CN2, 9929 and CMI. On October 14, the cheapest you could order was 2G: 2 GB of RAM and 1,200 GB a month at 2 Gbit/s, for ¥135 a month ($23.61 in CubeCloud’s US-dollar prices), with 2 left. The 1G plan (¥69) showed “0 可用”, none available.
  • ZgoCloud describes its Los Angeles plans as “GIA&9929&CMIN2, China Premium Optimised”, without a direction. Standard, with 2 GB of RAM and “1T/Month/200Mbps”, costs $32 per 3 months or $116 a year. There is no monthly billing. The $18 Starter plan was “Out of stock!”. On October 14, 2026, its special-offer page also sold Starter at $52 a year and Standard at $96 a year, with no refunds and no end date shown.
  • VMRack says its Los Angeles plans are “Built on CN2 GIA + CUII + CMIN2 triple-carrier direct routes”. The cheapest you could order was L3.VPS.DC2.2C4G.Pro: 4 GB of RAM and 3 TB a month at 500 Mbit/s, for $36.99 a month, the same on renewal. Its $9.99 and $23.99 plans were “Sold Out”.
  • DigitalVirt sells two Los Angeles lines. Its 洛杉矶 Pro plans use “电信 CN2 GIA 、移动 CMIN2、联通 9929 三网精品网”: CN2 GIA, CMIN2 and 9929, with no direction given. Its 洛杉矶 CN2 GIA plans say “三网回程 CN2 GIA(AS4809)”: CN2 GIA back to China for all three carriers. The cheapest Pro plan, P1-1C1G, has 1 GB of RAM and a 1,000 GB monthly traffic package at 500 Mbit/s for ¥65 a month. The cheapest CN2 GIA plan, G1-1C1G, has 1 GB of RAM and 1,000 GB at up to 1 Gbit/s for ¥87 a month. Every plan in both lines could be ordered, and both pages say “禁止长期占用带宽”: no heavy bandwidth use for long periods.
  • LisaHost sells plans in the CERA data center in Los Angeles with “回程CN2 GIA精品网络” for six Chinese networks and “去程直连”, a direct route on the way in. The cheapest you could order was 进阶版: 2 GB of RAM and 1,200 GB a month at 25 Mbit/s, for ¥256 per 3 months or ¥768 a year, with no monthly billing. Its cheaper monthly plans were “此配置缺货中”, out of stock.
  • AkkoCloud lists San Jose with “三网回程CN2 GIA 电信去程CN2 GIA”: CN2 GIA back to China for all three carriers, and into the server for China Telecom. The cheapest you could order was the A2 mini plan, sold as a “年付特惠” (annual special): 1 GB of RAM and 800 GB a month counted both ways at 1,000 Mbit/s, for ¥449 a year. B1 mini, also annual, cost ¥699 a year with 1,200 GB, and the cheapest monthly plan, B1, cost ¥129.99 with 1.5 GB of RAM and 1,500 GB. B2, at ¥233 a month, and the larger San Jose plans were sold out.
  • CloudSilk sells San Jose plans in a group named “美国圣何塞-大陆优化BGP(4837)”, with “电信联通去程CN2 GIA … 中国回程为美国圣何塞4837”: CN2 GIA from China Telecom and China Unicom to the server, and China Unicom’s 4837 backbone back to China. You could order 套餐D at ¥899.99 a year (2 GB of RAM and 8,000 GB of traffic at 2,560 Mbit/s) or 套餐E at ¥299.99 a month. On October 14, 套餐A to C and G were sold out, and 套餐F had 1 left.
  • TMHHost sells “美国 CN2 GIA 线路:三网回程 CN2 GIA” without naming a US city: CN2 GIA back to China for all three carriers. It says its route descriptions refer to 回程 unless marked otherwise. On October 14, US CN2 GIA 1 (¥40 a month, with 1 GB of RAM, an 800 GB traffic package and 30 Mbit/s) and the ¥55 and ¥105 plans showed “库存0”, none in stock. The cheapest you could order was US CN2 GIA #5, with 4 GB of RAM, a 3,000 GB traffic package and 50 Mbit/s, from ¥145 a month.
  • OneTechCloud lists “美西CN2GIA” (US West, no city) with “去程直连,回程三网CN2 GIA”: a direct route in and CN2 GIA back for all three carriers. Every plan showed “库存: 0”, none in stock. The cheapest was ¥38 a month. Its terms page is titled “美国三网双程CN2GIA建站VPS”, which says both ways.

What independent tests say:

  • BandwagonHost DC6, evening: a NodeSeek user’s tests found 0% loss and 500 to 650 Mbit/s on China Telecom and China Unicom at the evening peak, and slight loss on China Mobile (September 2026). The same post says China Unicom’s routes from Guangzhou and Chengdu used the ordinary 4837 network, not CN2 GIA.
  • BandwagonHost, off-peak: testing from an Alibaba Cloud data center in Hangzhou on a weekday morning, another NodeSeek user found BandwagonHost’s US West CN2 GIA sites at 134 to 139 ms with no loss and 171 to 181 Mbit/s on a single connection. Its non-CN2 Fremont site was “几乎没有差别”, almost the same (September 2026). The author notes that the test point is a data center line, not home broadband, and that its route labels were assigned automatically from the networks on each path.
  • DMIT Los Angeles Pro: in evening tests on February 2 to 4, 2026, VPSDeck (affiliate links) found its lines close to full speed with almost no loss. Its Anhui Mobile line didn’t reach full speed, which the author put down to that line’s limits.
  • HostDare: on an 80 Mbit/s plan, VPSDeck (affiliate links) measured 80 to 100 Mbit/s single-thread at 9:30 pm on January 7, 2026, and described the route as ordinary on the way in and optimized on the way back. VPS之家 (affiliate links) found evening loss under 3% (page updated January 2026).
  • nosla.cloud San Jose: 1373737.xyz measured 125 ms to Shanghai Telecom, 135 ms to China Unicom and 140 ms to China Mobile on a seasonal plan (August 2026; its link to nosla.cloud sets an affiliate cookie).

NodeSeek is a Chinese hosting forum. BandwagonHost announced an official partnership with it in December 2024.

CN2 GIA VPS in Japan: Tokyo and Osaka

Five hosts list CN2 GIA VPS plans in Japan: BandwagonHost in Osaka and Tokyo, and DMIT, GreenCloudVPS, nosla.cloud and V.PS in Tokyo. The cheapest you could order was nosla.cloud’s Tokyo plan at ¥189 a month.

  • BandwagonHost Osaka (Equinix OS1): BandwagonHost sells its Asian CN2 GIA sites as “Ultra VPS”, a separate tier from E-Commerce. The Osaka 40G plan, with 2 GB of RAM and 500 GB a month at 1.5 Gbit/s, costs $49.99 a month. The plan text says “Inbound route: China Telecom CN2 GIA/CTG, China Unicom, China Mobile” and “Outbound route: China Telecom CN2 GIA/CTG”.
  • BandwagonHost Tokyo (Equinix TY8, Ultra VPS): the same 40G plan at 1.2 Gbit/s costs $89.99 a month. Its text says “Direct route via China Telecom (CN2 GIA), China Unicom, China Mobile; CN2 GIA preference on outbound”. BandwagonHost’s other Tokyo site, JPTY_1, is labeled “China Direct”, not CN2 GIA.
  • DMIT Tokyo: DMIT says its Tokyo Premium network “leverages CN2 GIA (AS23764)”. Every Tokyo Pro plan was out of stock in the store, from TYO.AS3.Pro.TINY at $21.90 a month (1 GB of RAM, 500 GB a month at 1 Gbit/s, paused when used up). The pricing page showed them as “Order Now”.
  • GreenCloudVPS Tokyo: “Tokyo, JP Premium Line (CN2GIA/CU PREMIUM/CMIN2)”. Plan 2, with 8 GB of RAM and 2 TB a month at 1.5 Gbit/s, cost $85 a month, with 2 left on October 14. The $25 Mini and $45 Plan 1 were sold out. Each plan says: “No refund/Money back on this plan.”
  • nosla.cloud Tokyo: “电信双程CN2 | 联通双程10099-9929 | 移动双程CMIN2”, all in both directions. The S plan, with 2 GB of RAM and 500 GB a month at 500 Mbit/s shared, cost ¥189 a month ($27.79 in nosla.cloud’s US-dollar prices). Tokyo is in nosla.cloud’s order portal, not on its home page, and the plans use “德国IP用于日本”, German IP addresses used in Japan.
  • V.PS, xTom’s VPS brand, lists “CTGNet (formerly China Telecom CN2 GIA), CUP (China Unicom Premium), CMIN2 (China Mobile International N2)” for its Tokyo Performance KVM Gen2 plans in its terms. NRT EPYC Flash Gen 2, with 4 GB of RAM and 1 TB a month at 1 Gbit/s, costs €49.95 a month plus a €50 setup fee, or €149.85 per 3 months with no setup fee shown. The order page says VAT may be added.

Three of these Tokyo offers point to the same test server. GreenCloudVPS lists 45.94.40.13 as its Tokyo Premium test IP. That is the address of xTom’s Tokyo Premium looking glass, which V.PS calls “The network behind Performance KVM VPS in Tokyo” and which nosla.cloud’s looking-glass page links for its Tokyo premium plans.

What independent tests say:

  • DMIT Tokyo Pro, evening: on an older DMIT Tokyo Pro plan, a NodeSeek user’s single-thread tests at 9:47 pm on September 18, 2026 measured 573.52 Mbit/s from a Shanghai Telecom line (36 ms), 132.87 Mbit/s from Beijing Unicom (90 ms) and 27.47 Mbit/s from Shanghai Mobile (167 ms).
  • GreenCloudVPS Tokyo: in its summary, meowvps.com (affiliate link) put China Telecom and China Unicom at over 400 Mbit/s off-peak and over 300 Mbit/s at the evening peak. In some regions, China Mobile had up to 10% loss off-peak and was slowed to 30 Mbit/s at the peak (May 2026). The plan it tested was labeled CMI for China Mobile. On October 14 the label said CMIN2, and our trace on October 13 from a China Mobile probe in Kunming, at 9:05 am China time, used CMIN2.

Hong Kong CN2 GIA VPS

Seven hosts list Hong Kong CN2 GIA VPS plans: BandwagonHost, DMIT, CubeCloud, HostKVM, Server.HK, HNCloud and Lcayun. With a port of at least 100 Mbit/s, the cheapest you could order was HostKVM’s at $20 a month.

  • DMIT Hong Kong: “Premium Network leverages CN2 GIA (AS23764) to deliver low-latency, low-loss access for China Mainland users, averaging ~15ms latency with under 0.1% packet loss”. DMIT measures that from Hong Kong to Shenzhen, and says the node “connects via both CN2 GIA (AS23764) and CMI (AS58453)”. HKG.AS3.Pro.TINY, with 1 GB of RAM and 500 GB a month at 1 Gbit/s, cost $39.90 a month and was in stock. The server is paused when the month’s transfer is used up.
  • BandwagonHost Hong Kong (Equinix HK2, Ultra VPS): 40G, with 2 GB of RAM and 500 GB a month at 1 Gbit/s, costs $89.99 a month. Its text says “Direct route via China Telecom (CN2 GIA), China Unicom, China Mobile”.
  • CubeCloud: “HKG|香港 Pro 电信CN2+联通VIP+移动CMI”. 1G, with 1 GB of RAM and 500 GB a month at 50 Mbit/s, cost ¥79 a month ($13.82).
  • HostKVM calls the line “HK China Premium”, with “CN2 GIA/CMI/CUG三網直駁內地頻寬”: a direct connection to the mainland on all three networks. HKCP-Bronze, with 4 GB of RAM and 300 GB a month at 100 Mbit/s, cost $20 a month, with no discount for longer terms.
  • Server.HK advertises “CN2 GIA low-latency connectivity and BGP routing”, while its store says “CN2 & BGP Optimized”. HK-1H2G, with 2 GB of RAM and unmetered transfer at 2 Mbit/s, cost $5 a month on both the order page and the product page. On October 14, 2026, Server.HK advertised 50% off the first month with a code, with no end date shown.
  • HNCloud’s Hong Kong page says “BGP 国际多线+ CN2 GIA 三网直连大陆” and “双向 CN2(GIA)”, CN2 GIA both ways, but the plan lists “中国电信CN2,中国联通CUG精品网,中国移动CMI”. 1核1G, with unmetered transfer at 2 Mbit/s, has a full price of ¥108 a month. On October 14, 2026, it was shown at half price, ¥54 a month, with no end date given. Stock isn’t shown.
  • Lcayun: “中国•香港CN2 GIA精品线路”, and each plan says “线路:CN2 GIA”. The cheapest, 香港CN2 GIA(弹性), starts at ¥35 a month with 1 GB of RAM and 3 Mbit/s, and the page doesn’t state a monthly transfer. It names no direction and no route for China Mobile or China Unicom.

nosla.cloud’s home page labels its Hong Kong plan “CN2GIA”, but its order page says “电信去程CN2 回程4837/CMI随机”: CN2 to the server, and 4837 or CMI at random back to China Telecom users. Its looking-glass list calls the Hong Kong line “普通优化”, ordinary optimization, so we left it out of the table.

We found no independent 2026 tests of these Hong Kong plans. Our trace from a China Telecom probe in Guangzhou at 8:39 am China time on October 13 reached DMIT’s Hong Kong looking-glass server in 15 ms (see Routes we traced).

Singapore CN2 GIA VPS

Four hosts list Singapore CN2 GIA VPS plans: BandwagonHost, GreenCloudVPS, V.PS and HNCloud. With a port of at least 100 Mbit/s, the cheapest you could order was GreenCloudVPS’s at $45 a month.

  • GreenCloudVPS: “Singapore Premium Line (CN2GIA/CU PREMIUM/CMI)”, with CMI for China Mobile where Tokyo has CMIN2. Plan 1, with 4 GB of RAM and 1 TB a month at 1 Gbit/s, cost $45 a month, with 8 left on October 14. The $25 Mini was sold out.
  • BandwagonHost Singapore (Equinix SG1, Ultra VPS): 40G, with 2 GB of RAM and 500 GB a month at 1.5 Gbit/s, costs $49.99 a month. The data center is listed with “China Telecom CN2 GIA, China Mobile CMIN2”, and the plan text gives no direction.
  • V.PS lists “CTGNet (formerly China Telecom CN2 GIA), CUP (China Unicom Premium), CMIN2 (China Mobile International N2)” for its Singapore Performance KVM plans. SIN EPYC Explorer, with 2 GB of RAM and 1 TB a month at 1 Gbit/s, costs €46.95 a month plus a €50 setup fee, or €140.85 per 3 months. Its terms say its cheaper Singapore Edge plan uses “China Telecom ChinaNet (AS4134)”, the ordinary backbone.
  • HNCloud’s Singapore page says “提供电信CN2 GIA、移动CMI、联通AS9929三网直连线路”, while the plan names China Unicom’s CUG network instead of 9929. The page also says “双向 CN2 精品带宽”, CN2 in both directions. 1核1G, with unmetered transfer at 2 Mbit/s, has a full price of ¥105 a month. On October 14, 2026, it was shown at half price, ¥52.5 a month, with no end date given.

Our trace from a China Telecom probe in Guangzhou at 8:49 am China time on October 13 reached GreenCloudVPS’s Singapore test IP in 45 ms over CTGNet (see Routes we traced).

CN2 GIA VPS in Europe

Three hosts list CN2 GIA or CTGNet VPS plans in Europe: nosla.cloud and AkkoCloud in Frankfurt, AkkoCloud in London and BandwagonHost in Amsterdam. The cheapest you could order was AkkoCloud’s Frankfurt plan at ¥449 a year.

  • nosla.cloud Frankfurt: “电信双程CN2 | 联通双程9929 | 移动双程CMIN2”, each in both directions, on a “德国原生IP”, a native German IP address. The S plan, with 1 GB of RAM and 500 GB a month at 500 Mbit/s shared, cost ¥115 per 3 months ($16.89) and was in stock.
  • AkkoCloud Frankfurt: the page heading says “三网回程GIA,去程直连电信去程GIA” and the text under it says “三网回程GIA,电信联通去程GIA 移动去程直连”. Both say CN2 GIA back to China for all three carriers and from China Telecom to the server. The second adds China Unicom and says China Mobile is direct on the way in, and no plan says which applies. The A2 mini plan cost ¥449 a year, as in San Jose, and B1 ¥129.99 a month; every Frankfurt plan could be ordered.
  • AkkoCloud London: “三网回程GIA,电信联通去程GIA”. Every London plan showed “缺货”, out of stock.
  • BandwagonHost Amsterdam (EUNL_1) is labeled “China Telecom CTGNet, China Mobile CMIN2, China Unicom Premium”, not CN2 GIA. BandwagonHost says CTGNet (AS23764) is, “for practical reasons, equivalent to Option 3 (AS4809 CN2 GIA)”. The 20G plan costs $49.99 per 3 months. Of its other Amsterdam sites, EUNL_9 lists China Unicom Premium (AS10099) peering only, and EUNL_2 no premium China route.

What independent tests say:

  • BandwagonHost Amsterdam: a NodeSeek user’s tests at about 10 pm China time on October 11, 2026, on a special Amsterdam plan that isn’t on BandwagonHost’s order page, showed CN2 GIA or CTGNet back to China Telecom, 10099 and 9929 for China Unicom, CMIN2 for China Mobile, and 156 to 164 ms to Shanghai. The IPv6 route back to China Telecom went over Cogent to the 163 backbone.
  • nosla.cloud Frankfurt: a NodeSeek user’s tests at about 1:30 pm China time on October 12, 2026, on a sale plan, showed the same premium routes back to China and 147 to 159 ms to Shanghai. The IPv6 routes back to China were ordinary ones, through Tata.

Our trace from a China Telecom probe in Guangzhou at 9:05 am China time on October 13 reached the Frankfurt premium server on nosla.cloud’s looking-glass list in 187 ms over CN2 and CTGNet.

Routes we traced

On October 13, 2026, between 8:39 and 9:05 am China time, which is off-peak, we ran six traceroutes through Globalping probes on Chinese carrier networks. Each target is a looking-glass server or test IP that the host lists on its own site.

Probe in China Time (China) Target Route Time to target
China Telecom (AS4134), Guangzhou 8:39 am DMIT Hong Kong Pro looking glass One 163 hop (202.97.43.78), CN2 (59.43.x.x) in Guangzhou, then CTGNet in Hong Kong 15 ms
China Telecom (AS4134), Guangzhou 8:39 am DMIT Tokyo Pro looking glass One 163 hop, CN2 hops in Shanghai, then CTGNet to Tokyo 61 ms
China Telecom (AS4134), Guangzhou 8:49 am GreenCloudVPS Singapore Premium test IP One 163 hop, two hops that didn’t reply, then CTGNet in Singapore 45 ms
China Telecom (AS4134), Guangzhou 8:49 am HostDare Los Angeles CN2 GIA test IP 163 backbone (202.97.43.74); no CN2 hop replied 166 ms
China Telecom (AS4134), Guangzhou 9:05 am Frankfurt premium looking glass on nosla.cloud’s list One 163 hop, CN2 hops in Shanghai, then CTGNet in Frankfurt 187 ms
China Mobile (AS9808), Kunming 9:05 am GreenCloudVPS Tokyo Premium test IP China Mobile’s network to Shanghai, then CMIN2 (AS58807) to Tokyo 72 ms

What to take from it:

  • The China Telecom traces to DMIT Hong Kong and Tokyo and to the Frankfurt server crossed on CN2 and CTGNet, as the hosts say.
  • The trace to HostDare’s test IP stayed on the 163 backbone. That matches HostDare’s statement that traffic from China to its servers doesn’t use GIA.
  • The China Mobile trace to GreenCloudVPS Tokyo used CMIN2, which its Tokyo label names.

These traces show only the path from China to the server. They are single off-peak runs, and they don’t measure speed or loss at busy times. The NextTrace guide shows how to run the same checks on your own server, and has our October 12 traces to DMIT’s Los Angeles servers from all three carriers.

CN2 GIA VPS on Reddit

Reddit users disagree on whether optimized routes are worth paying for. These threads from 2025 and 2026 come up for CN2 GIA VPS:

  • r/VPS, September 2026: a post asked whether US “optimized routes” really matter that much for Chinese users, and its title answered “maybe not always”. Reddit’s filters have since removed the post. A reply in October said: “Optimized routes do matter against the Chinese great firewall”.
  • r/VPS, June 2026: in a thread on VPS setups for a team traveling to China, a commenter back from a business trip in Guangdong said a GreenCloudVPS Tokyo server worked on China Unicom, without saying which of its Tokyo lines: “The routing was stable.” Another commenter suggested BandwagonHost’s and DMIT’s CN2 GIA plans in Hong Kong.
  • r/dumbclub, July 2026: a China Mobile user in Kunming couldn’t reliably reach a US VPS. A reply said “China Mobile can be fast if you’re on their CMIN2 route, but unfortunately, this VPS is on the standard CMI route”. The poster said their Hong Kong CN2 GIA VPS “cost more and has limited monthly bandwidth”, and later put most of the problem down to the Airbnb’s network setup.
  • r/dumbclub, November 2025: a China Mobile user on a BandwagonHost CN2 GIA VPS reported “50mbps download/1mbps upload speeds, even during non-peak hours”.

How to choose a CN2 GIA VPS

Pick by your users’ carrier first, then check the route direction, IPv6, the refund terms and the host’s rules on proxies and VPNs.

  • Your carrier in China. CN2 GIA is China Telecom’s route. China Mobile users need CMIN2, and China Unicom users 9929 or China Unicom Premium (10099); the CN2 GIA guide explains them. The table’s last column shows what each host names. Tests show the gap: meowvps.com found up to 10% loss on China Mobile to a Tokyo plan labeled CMI (May 2026), and a September 2026 evening test of DMIT Tokyo measured 27.47 Mbit/s on Shanghai Mobile against 573.52 Mbit/s on Shanghai Telecom.
  • Route direction. HostDare, TMHHost, LisaHost, OneTechCloud and DigitalVirt’s CN2 GIA line describe CN2 GIA only for traffic back to China. CloudSilk describes it only for traffic into the server. nosla.cloud’s premium plans and CubeCloud’s Los Angeles plans name it both ways for China Telecom, and many hosts don’t say. Check both directions with NextTrace.
  • IPv6. Most plans include IPv6, but no host we checked says IPv6 traffic uses CN2 GIA. HostDare’s store lists a /64 of IPv6 on its CN2 GIA plans, but its help center calls its IPv6 “Non-china optimized” and says IPv6 is “not for china optimized networks”, and CubeCloud lists “[IPv6 路由 CDN77]” for Los Angeles and NTT for Hong Kong. In October 2026, a NodeSeek user on Guangdong Telecom found DMIT Los Angeles Pro’s IPv4 route back to China Telecom on CN2 GIA, while its IPv6 route back to Guangzhou and Shanghai stayed on the 163 backbone. NodeSeek reports from October 11 and 12 found the same pattern on BandwagonHost Amsterdam and nosla.cloud Frankfurt: premium routes over IPv4, and IPv6 back to China over the ordinary 163, 4837 and CMI networks.
  • Refunds. Terms range from none (GreenCloudVPS’s CN Premium plans) to 30 days (BandwagonHost). AkkoCloud, CloudSilk and CubeCloud refund only if a product is discontinued or an outage lasts over 24 hours. Most refunds end once you use a set amount of transfer. DMIT and ZgoCloud name “The network is not good enough” among the cases they won’t refund, and VMRack names “Poor network quality”; for DMIT that rule covers refunds to your original payment method. Several hosts also won’t refund if the IP is blocked in China.
  • Proxies and VPNs. DMIT’s and CubeCloud’s acceptable use policies allow encrypted private proxies but ban VPN tunnels to China. ZgoCloud bans “Proxies and VPNs”, DigitalVirt bans SSR, V2Ray, OpenVPN, PPTP and L2TP, HostKVM and OneTechCloud ban VPN-type proxy use, and Server.HK’s Hong Kong terms ban “commercial VPN/proxy services targeting Mainland China users”. Read what the law says about VPNs in China too.
Host Refund Proxies and VPNs
BandwagonHost 30 days for new orders, if under 10% of the monthly transfer is used and no IP is on a blocklist Bans open proxies and Tor relays; lists “PPP and VPN support (tun/tap)”
DMIT Full refund within 3 days with up to 30 GB used, partial within 30 days Allows “Encrypted Private Proxy”; bans VPN tunnels to China and Tor exit nodes
HostDare 3 days from the first purchase, with a valid reason; a $1 fee for refunds to the original payment method; not for promotional plans Terms say nothing on proxies or VPNs
GreenCloudVPS None on these plans “Proxies are allowed unless they cause frequent abuse”; bans Tor
nosla.cloud One lifetime refund to the original payment method, for Alipay or WeChat Pay: within 24 hours, under 5 GB used, IPv4 not blocked by the GFW. Regular order forms say no refunds Bans open proxies and Tor exit nodes
V.PS One per account: within 14 days, under 10 GB used, IP not on a blacklist such as the GFW’s Allows private proxies; bans public Tor nodes and open or anonymous proxies
AkkoCloud None, except for discontinued products or outages over 24 hours; to account balance only No VPS proxy rule found
CubeCloud None, except for discontinued products or outages over 24 hours Terms ban OpenVPN, PPTP, L2TP, IPsec and all proxies; the AUP allows encrypted private proxies and bans VPN tunnels to China
ZgoCloud Within 3 days and 10 GB of traffic, at most two per account; not for IPs blocked by the GFW Bans “Proxies and VPNs”
VMRack Account credit only: in full within 3 days and 10 GB, partly within 7 days None in its terms
DigitalVirt 3 days, except after 10 GB of traffic, for IPs blocked by the GFW, or with a promotion or coupon Bans SSR, V2Ray, OpenVPN, PPTP and L2TP, and “任何形式的公共代理程序”, any public proxy
LisaHost Plan pages promise “48小时不满意,无条件 退款”, an unconditional refund within 48 hours; its terms exclude services that used over 5% of their transfer or 20 GB, whichever is smaller Terms say nothing on proxies or VPNs
TMHHost Pro-rated within 30 days of activation; none for promotional or special-price plans Bans free public proxies
HostKVM Within 3 days, $1 fee Bans using the VPS as a VPN-type proxy
Server.HK 3 days, one refund per data center per user Its Hong Kong terms ban “commercial VPN/proxy services targeting Mainland China users”
CloudSilk None, except for discontinued products or outages over 24 hours; to account balance only Bans free public proxies
Lcayun Full within 24 hours, pro-rated up to 3 days; none once over 10% of the traffic is used Bans illegal, resold or shared proxies, and VPN or proxy services that break the law
OneTechCloud Unconditional within 24 hours; within 72 hours minus ¥5 and 2% Bans VPN-type proxy use

We didn’t check HNCloud’s terms.

For a trip to China, you don’t need a VPS. A roaming eSIM or a VPN that works in China is simpler, and eSIM or VPN for China? helps you choose.

Hosts we left out

Vmiss’s store blocked our checks on October 13 and 14, so we couldn’t confirm that it still sells CN2 GIA plans. The last archived copy of its Los Angeles CN2 GIA store page, from May 26, 2026, listed the Basic plan at CA$6 a month with 0 available.

Yecaoyun’s VPS page lists a Los Angeles “GIA” plan from ¥38 a month, but its order page loaded without any plans, and its current Los Angeles page names an ordinary route (163, 4837 and CMI). GigsGigsCloud’s site and RFCHOST’s and Gomami’s stores blocked our checks, ZoroCloud’s and LocVPS’s sites didn’t load, and megalayer.com showed a domain-for-sale page; RFCHOST’s and Gomami’s home pages don’t mention GIA. RAKsmart, IMIDC, Evoxt and KVMLA describe CN2 routes to China without calling them GIA, and IMIDC uses “CN2 GIA” only for dedicated servers. Krypt iON calls its route “China Direct”, DogYun labels its routes “精品” and “优化” (premium and optimized), and RackNerd’s VPS page doesn’t mention CN2.

FAQ

What is the cheapest CN2 GIA VPS?

On October 14, 2026, among plans you could order with a port of at least 100 Mbit/s, the lowest prices were AkkoCloud's ¥449 a year in San Jose and Frankfurt, and ZgoCloud's $32 per 3 months and DigitalVirt's ¥65 a month in Los Angeles. Several low-priced plans were sold out, including VMRack's at $9.99 a month, DMIT's at $10.90 a month and GreenCloudVPS's at $25 a month.

Is a CN2 GIA VPS worth it in 2026?

It depends on when your users connect and on their carrier. A NodeSeek user testing from a Hangzhou data center on a weekday morning in September 2026 found BandwagonHost's non-CN2 Fremont site almost the same as its CN2 GIA sites. In another user's evening tests that month, BandwagonHost's CN2 GIA Los Angeles site ran at 500 to 650 Mbit/s with no loss on China Telecom and China Unicom, while its non-GIA Tokyo site managed 2.8 Mbit/s back to Beijing Telecom.

Does a CN2 GIA VPS help China Mobile users?

Only if the host also gives China Mobile a premium route such as CMIN2. BandwagonHost's US, Canadian, Singapore and Amsterdam sites, nosla.cloud's premium plans, GreenCloudVPS Tokyo, V.PS, VMRack, ZgoCloud and DigitalVirt's Los Angeles Pro plans name CMIN2. DMIT's Los Angeles Pro plans list it as inbound only, and HostDare as one way. Several Asian plans name only CMI.

Which CN2 GIA location is closest to China?

Hong Kong, for users in southern China. In our off-peak traces from China Telecom probes in Guangzhou on October 13, 2026, between 8:39 and 9:05 am China time, DMIT's Hong Kong server answered in 15 ms, GreenCloudVPS Singapore in 45 ms, DMIT Tokyo in 61 ms, HostDare Los Angeles in 166 ms and a Frankfurt premium server in 187 ms.

How do I check that a VPS really uses CN2 GIA?

Trace the route in both directions. NextTrace's -F option traces from the server to China's carriers, and its --from option runs a trace from a Globalping probe in China to the server. Our NextTrace guide shows how to read the output.

Can I use a CN2 GIA VPS as a VPN?

Check the host's rules first. DMIT and CubeCloud ban VPN tunnels to China, ZgoCloud bans proxies and VPNs, DigitalVirt bans SSR, V2Ray, OpenVPN, PPTP and L2TP, HostKVM and OneTechCloud ban VPN-type proxy use, and Server.HK bans commercial VPN or proxy services aimed at mainland China users. CN2 GIA is a network route, and the firewall can still block the server's IP address; GreenCloudVPS, nosla.cloud and HostDare have rules for changing an IP blocked in China.
