Xiamen airport Wi-Fi is free. The airport's website says the China Mobile and China Unicom networks, CMCC-XMAirport-free and ChinaUnicom, are free in the terminal. Travel guides from 2025 and 2026 say you log in with a code sent to your phone by text. If the code doesn't arrive, a September 2026 guide says a kiosk in T3 gives you a Wi-Fi password with your passport. Google, WhatsApp and other blocked apps won't work on the airport Wi-Fi without a VPN.
- The airport's website says China Mobile's CMCC-XMAirport-free and China Unicom's ChinaUnicom networks are free. China Telecom's Chinanet charges a fee. The page is undated.
- Guides from 2025 and 2026 say you log in with a code sent to your phone by text. Whether the code reaches foreign numbers is not confirmed.
- If no code arrives, East China Trip's September 2026 guide says a kiosk in T3 gives you a Wi-Fi password with your passport. Follow the signs for International Departures to find it.
- Time limits and speeds are not confirmed.
- Google, WhatsApp and other blocked apps don't work on the airport Wi-Fi. Use a VPN (connect it after the Wi-Fi login), or turn Wi-Fi off and use a roaming eSIM.
- A service center for international visitors in the T3 international arrivals hall has a counter for local SIM cards and data packages, according to the Fujian government.
- Gaoqi airport is due to close when the new Xiang'an airport opens at the end of 2026. The Wi-Fi details for Xiang'an are not confirmed.
Xiamen airport free Wi-Fi login
To use the free Wi-Fi at Xiamen airport, join the airport’s free network, open any web page, and log in with a code sent to your phone by text, according to travel guides. The airport’s website says Wi-Fi from China Mobile and China Unicom is free in the terminal (其中移动和联通为免费). Its step-by-step graphic, for the China Mobile network, says to join CMCC-XMAirport-free, open any web page and log in on the page that appears.
China Airline Travel, a booking site, gives these steps in an undated guide:
- In your phone’s Wi-Fi settings, join
CMCC-XMAirport-freeorChinaUnicom. - Open any web page in your browser to bring up the welcome page.
- Choose Login via SMS, enter your phone number and tap Get Code.
- Type in the code from the text message and tap Log in.
East China Trip’s September 2026 guide describes the same method: enter your mobile number and log in with the verification code you receive. Remitly’s October 2025 guide also says you log in by SMS verification. Trip.com’s July 2026 guide says you can verify by text message or with your passport details.
If the login page doesn’t appear, open a plain http address such as http://example.com. NordVPN’s help center suggests this to bring up a Wi-Fi login page.

Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport Wi-Fi name
The airport’s website names two free networks: CMCC-XMAirport-free from China Mobile and ChinaUnicom from China Unicom. It says a third network, China Telecom’s Chinanet, charges a fee, shown on its login page. The page is undated, and none of the 2025 or 2026 sources on this page confirms these names.
- China Airline Travel’s undated guide gives the same two free networks.
- Remitly, a money transfer company, says in its October 2025 guide to connect to the “Xiamen Airport” network.
- The 2026 guides from Trip.com and East China Trip don’t name the network.
If you see none of these names, call the airport hotline, below.
Text code with a foreign number
Whether the text code reaches a foreign phone number is not confirmed. East China Trip’s September 2026 guide says that if you can’t receive the code, you can use the passport kiosk described below. Trip.com’s July 2026 guide, on its Singapore site, says travelers without a phone number can go to the information desk, where staff will usually give them a special code for the Wi-Fi.
Passport Wi-Fi kiosk
East China Trip’s September 2026 guide says a Wi-Fi password kiosk in T3 gives you a Wi-Fi password with your passport. To find it, follow the signs for International Departures after you arrive at T3. If you can’t find it, the guide says to ask airport staff. Trip.com’s October 2026 guide, on its UK site, says passengers can connect with their phone number or passport details at self-service kiosks.
The airport’s website doesn’t mention the kiosks. How the kiosk reads your passport, and whether T4 has one, is not confirmed.
If you can’t log in
Call the airport’s 24-hour customer service hotline, 96363 (+86 592 96363 from a foreign phone). The airport’s FAQ page gives the number, and an information desk in T4 on the second floor, opposite door 14 of domestic departures. Official page, in Chinese: Xiamen airport FAQ.
Where and when the Wi-Fi works
The airport’s website says the free Wi-Fi covers the passenger waiting areas inside the terminal and runs from the first flight of the day to the last (航班开始——航班结束). Trip.com’s July and October 2026 guides say free Wi-Fi is available in both terminals. East China Trip says T3 handles international and domestic flights, and T4 is domestic only.
No source gives a time limit or a speed. China Airline Travel’s undated guide says the Wi-Fi has no ads and that logging in takes about 10 seconds.
What doesn’t work on Xiamen airport Wi-Fi
Google, WhatsApp and other blocked apps don’t work on the airport Wi-Fi without a VPN. The airport Wi-Fi is a Chinese network, so the usual blocks apply. Airalo says Google (including Gmail and Maps), Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube and WhatsApp are generally inaccessible on local networks in China. East China Trip’s guide also says that opening sites such as Google on the airport Wi-Fi may require a VPN.
A roaming eSIM doesn’t help while your phone is on the Wi-Fi. Airalo says its eSIM gives full access to blocked sites “as long as you are using your eSIM data (and not the hotel Wi-Fi)”. The same goes for airport Wi-Fi: turn Wi-Fi off to use the eSIM’s data.

Xiamen airport internet without the Wi-Fi
For internet at Xiamen airport without the free Wi-Fi, use a roaming eSIM or a Chinese SIM card from the arrivals hall. To use blocked apps on the Wi-Fi, connect a VPN after you log in.
A roaming eSIM
A roaming eSIM gives you mobile data without the Wi-Fi login. Airalo says its eSIM data is routed through secure gateways outside mainland China, which is why blocked sites work on it. Trip.com, which sells eSIMs, advises in its October 2026 guide activating a China eSIM before your trip, because maps and messaging apps may not work properly without one. Each provider’s routing is in our China eSIM comparison.
A Chinese SIM card at the airport
You can buy a local SIM card in the T3 international arrivals hall, according to the Fujian government and a 2026 guide. The airport’s website says the hall is on the first floor of T3, on the east side.
- Service center for international visitors. The Fujian provincial government reported in July 2025 that a one-stop service center opened on July 8 in the middle of the T3 international arrivals hall. It says the center has a telecommunications counter for local SIM cards and data packages, and that you’ll see it on your right as you leave immigration.
- Carrier counters. East China Trip’s September 2026 guide says China Unicom and China Mobile have service counters in the international arrivals area.
- Phone rental counter. The airport’s undated internet services page lists a counter at the exit of the T3 international arrivals hall. It sells data SIM cards for China and other countries and rents out pocket Wi-Fi devices, from 8:00 until the last international arrival. A second counter is beside gate 10 in the T3 international departure area, open from 5:00 until the last international departure.
The service center’s hours and current SIM prices are not confirmed. A Chinese SIM uses a local network, so the same apps stay blocked on it. East China Trip says you need a VPN for Google, Line and other restricted services in China.
A VPN
If you use a VPN, finish the Wi-Fi login with the VPN off, then connect it. NordVPN’s help center calls the login page on public Wi-Fi at hotels, airports and cafes a captive portal. It says auto-connect stops that page from loading, and a kill switch blocks all non-VPN traffic, so the page never appears.
- Turn off your VPN’s auto-connect and kill switch, and disconnect the VPN.
- Join the airport’s free network and complete the login.
- If the login page doesn’t appear, open a plain http address such as
http://example.com. NordVPN suggests this to bring the page up. - Connect the VPN, then turn the kill switch and auto-connect back on.
Provider-specific fixes are in our guide to using a VPN on hotel Wi-Fi in China.
Gaoqi airport closes when Xiang’an opens
Gaoqi airport is due to close at the end of 2026, when the new Xiamen Xiang’an International Airport opens. The airport’s operator, Yuanxiang (Xiamen) International Airport Co., said in a stock market filing dated October 1, 2026, that Xiang’an is planned to open at the end of 2026. It said Gaoqi will close at the same time and stop serving as a civil airport. China News Service reported in January 2026 that the switch is expected at the end of December 2026.
Trip.com’s October 2026 guide says the two airports won’t operate together, and that a ticket showing XMN may refer to either airport, depending on your travel date. The Wi-Fi details on this page are for Gaoqi. The Wi-Fi network and login at Xiang’an are not confirmed.
